INFERNO / Deep Sea Submersible

INFERNO started as a project concept during my junior year at The Center for Creative Studies. Our Design Theory class was to challenge designers to problem solve based on a concept and it’s criteria that we created. INFERNO was initially conceived as a simple observation platform for researchers to document deep sea volcanic activity in the safety of a pressurized clear sphere. As different scenarios started to develop for exploration possibilities, the design progressed and evolved to more of a untethered, fully articulated vehicle.

Over the last few decades, this concept has been waiting patiently to be developed to it’s full potential. With time, better technology and software, INFERNO is finally finished!
